Flower Fever

Daisies

I might be jumping the gun by saying this, but I think I'm finally emerging from this horrid reading rut. Suffice it to say, I can't wait to see the end of it. In the meantime, I thought I'd share some photos of the lovely additions we've been adding to the garden over the past few weeks. Toiling, tilling and planting has been a welcome distraction from my literary woes -- channeling Mary Lennox has been great fun. Here are some of the results...

Delphinium
Calla Lily
Purple Alyssum-- Percy couldn't resist peeing on this
 Petunias
I have no idea what these purple flowers are called
But they're pretty
Snapdragons
White Alyssum
Hydrangeas
 Dianthus
 Marigold
 More Snapdragons
 Wearing my trusty bonnet
Don't laugh -- it's great sun protection
and it made me feel like Lizzy Bennet

  2. This is your garden?! MY garden consists pretty much of a meadow with a lot of dandelions...
Oh and the bonnet is not ridiculous at all.
    It's super awesome! :)

  3. Lemon Tree: Thank you! It's quite nice to yield such a wonderful result to hard work. I don't remember the last time I was so motivated to exercise. :)

  4. Cassandra: The bonnet rocks, doesn't it? ;)

We had dandelions in our garden too, until I killed them -- and large spots of grass along with them. Oops.

  5. Cassandra: In fact, you can see some of those yellow spots in the last photo. In my defense, I wasn't properly instructed in the art of dandelion extermination!

  7. Planting flowers is always a wonderful way to relax. It's the prep work that makes me grumbly. :)

That anonymous flower looks like my purple speedwell...

  8. Those are the remains of innocent sweet dandelions?! I thought they came from tiny atomic bombs or something similar ;)

  9. Lovely flowers! I've been taking pictures of my mom's flowers all spring. She can name all of them, and I've learned quite a few, but there are always a few that stump me.

  10. Impossible A: You're right. The anonymous flower is a purple speedwell. Thank you for solving this horticultural mystery! :)

  11. Cassandra: Your comment about the atomic bombs made me laugh out loud! I don't think I'll ever be asked to de-dandelion our yard again!

  12. Amanda: I previously knew next to nothing about various types of flowers. I've really enjoyed learning more about flowers and plants. Maybe in a few years I'll be great at identifying things too. :)
