Hot Tamale Heaven

Oh, how I've missed you...

There are a few culinary items that I crave like mad when I'm out of the country.  Namely, Mexican food.  But when it comes to American sweets and candy, I simply cannot get enough of Hot Tamales.  For my international friends, this chewy red treat is full of cinnamon and sugar deliciousness.  Some find the cinnamon flavour too much to handle, but I think it's just right.  I've been known to consume an entire Big Box in one sitting, though in general I try to contain myself.  Imagine my delight when I got into my parents' car after a two-layover flight to Utah only to discover they had brought along some Hot Tamales for my ride home. It was a great welcome-home gesture.

Are there specific foods or treats you miss/would miss when traveling?

I think I would miss Mexican food too. Since you are home, I suggest trying Maria Bonita's in Orem. So good and very authentic!

I haven't been to Maria Bonita's before, but I can't wait to check it out. One can never have too many Mexican restaurants nearby. Please tell me their chips and salsa are good?

Anonymous: I also adore Kit Kats! Hot Tamales are available at supermarkets and convenient stores throughout the U.S., but I have yet to see them offered outside the country. If you're looking for them within the States, you can go to the following website to see if they're available near you:

Hope that helps!
